Here's what others are saying about City of Light:

What strikes me about City of Light is that it is a Spiritual 'Community.' Jesus' message of inclusive love is evident from the time one enters the building by the greeters, the congregants, the diversity of church staff, the six different faith traditions that call City of Light home, and the other agencies that collaborate with City of Light to provide food, clothing, and necessities to those in need in the Atlanta area. This outpouring of love truly makes City of Light a 'Community of Light' for ALL people.''- Dr. Rhandi Carter

Our congregation is very diverse, young, old, gay, straight, transgender, singles, families with children. In fact we've been noted as Atlanta's most diverse congregation and we love that. It's because for 42 years our hearts and doors have been open to everyone and that's what inclusion at City of Light really means.

Now we invite you to come as you are, we're relaxed and have no pretenses. We just want you to feel at home.

Our congregants and friends say our worship is "powerful, positive and transforming". This is a love based church not one that is based on fear judgement, so you will find the experience rewarding and uplifting.

Our Senior Pastor and staff are friendly and approachable. They are here to help you on your journey so feel free to connect with them after the service at our coffee social in Perry Hall. They would love it.

We believe in the power of affirmative prayer so if you have a special need, know that at the end of every service, an invitation is extended to anyone to join with one of our prayer partners who will take time to pray with you.

Sunday Service Schedule:

10:00 a.m. Coffee and refreshments served before the service, come early and meet new friends

10:30 a.m. Sunday "Celebration" Service

We invite you to check out our calendar of events for classes, social events and opportunities for you to get involved. You will find them listed under the HOME tab.

Our Mission and Message

We are a progressive community of faith with a message of compassion, inclusion and empowerment.

As a progressive community of faith we are:

  • Filled with compassion in action for a world in need
  • passionate about inclusion that calls us to create a world that works for and welcomes everyone, not just a few
  • Empowering one another to discover our best in relationship with God

Did you note that we are a community of faith? Faith is big at City of Light. We believe in the power of believing and its ability to transform ourselves.

How we live that is summed up in this phrase:

"We are transforming the world as we transform ourselves."
